Can reducing the number of Computers improve Learning Outcomes?
Budgeting ICT? Renewal of Leasing Agreements? Doing the Same Again with a bit more?
‘Rarely in the history of education has so much been spent by so many for so long, with so little to show for the blood, sweat and tears expended’ Nichol and Watson (2003)
It is a relief that there is much supporting evidence and research available to support the contrary view. However it is important at this time of year to take hold of your ICT Strategic Plan and Vision for Digital Literacy across your school and shake out the answers you need to justify the ever growing expenditure on ICT.
Does the vision for Digital Literacy across your school guide you in making informed decisions about the budget?
Are the goals for learning supported through this vision?
Does the ICT Strategic Plan drive this vision in determining the types of Learning Technology devices which will support good pedagogical practice?
Do we know how/if our investment in Learning Technologies is giving a positive return in Learning Outcomes.
Would a range of different types of Learning Technology Devices help students more effectively achieve the learning outcomes?
Does the above imply we can use more or less laptop and desktop Computers?

What are your thoughts?
